About Our Team

Our team is led by Heather Moore Collins, a civil rights and employment trial lawyer whose practice has a strong emphasis on sexual assault, sexual harassment, and serious abuses of power in the workplace and beyond. She has represented survivors, employees, and other individuals in significant civil rights and employment matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and cases involving institutional and governmental misconduct.

Heather has tried and resolved cases in Tennessee state and federal courts and has represented clients before agencies such as the EEOC and other administrative bodies. She is known for meticulous preparation, strategic litigation, and a willingness to take cases to trial when that is what justice requires. In recognition of her courtroom advocacy and results, she was named the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2025.

At HMC Civil Rights, you are supported not only by Heather, but by a focused team of attorneys and staff who share a commitment to serious, client-centered advocacy. We work together to investigate deeply, build strong cases, and help clients make informed decisions about whether to pursue confidential resolutions, public filings, or trial.

If you are facing a serious sexual assault, civil rights, or employment issue and need experienced counsel to review your legal matter, please contact us today.

We start by listening. We explain the process in plain language, talk honestly about risks and options, and make strategic decisions with your safety, privacy, and long‑term future at the center — especially in sexual assault and harassment matters.

Why Clients Choose HMC Civil Rights

Built for Trial. Centered on You.

Clients come to HMC Civil Rights when the stakes are high — in sexual assault, civil rights, employment and injury cases where they need both real trial power and counsel who will actually listen and tell them the truth. The HMC team has spent more than two decades representing survivors, employees and individuals in serious litigation involving sexual assault, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other abuses of power, as demonstarted by Heather Collins’ recognition as the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association’s Oustanding Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2025.

We are built for trial, not volume. That means careful case selection, deep investigation, and disciplined preparation from day one, using state of the art technology and resources, every serious case is ready for a courtroom if that is where it needs to go. Our willingness and ability to try cases shapes how we litigate and how we negotiate; defense counsel know we are not just posturing.

We are also centered on you. In practice, that means we take time to understand what you have lived through, explain the process in plain language, and give candid advice about your options — whether the best path is a confidential resolution, a public filing designed to create change, or a jury trial. Especially in sexual assault and harassment matters, we are intentional about minimizing re‑traumatization while still pursuing accountability.

Our team has represented clients in Tennessee state and federal courts and before agencies such as the EEOC, and we bring the same level of preparation to negotiation, mediation, and trial. We do not rely on shortcuts or cookie‑cutter strategies; we build a tailored plan for each case, grounded in evidence, strategy, and a clear understanding of your goals.

If you are facing a serious sexual assault, civil rights, employment or injury issue and need experienced counsel to review your legal matter, please contact us to schedule a confidential consultation.
